Bike and Barge Day 2 - Vianen to Dordrecht

A 52-55km bike today.  Sadly my cold has returned so I'm not feeling too great but did not want to miss out on the fun.  Breakfast was great and we also created a picnic lunch - this is just part of the food on offer.
I love the brown and white sheep we pass and some of the beautiful houses and gardens on the small canals but we were pedaling down narrow lanes so stopping was not easy.  We have a cuppa in  Schoonhoven which is a town renowned for its silver work.
There's plenty of thatched roofs around and planter baskets.
We also see the famous poppies from time to time.
Then we continued on to Kinderdijk right across the Albasserwaard.
We stop at "the stork farm" and here you can see a baby's head as well as Mum on watch.
Kinderdijk has the most windmills in the world.
Whilst there I spotted a Mum carrying her bub along
And made some new friends.
Back to the barge and we continue on to Dordrecht, one of the oldest towns in Holland and an important junction for shipping traffic.  As we arrive we spot something unexpected.

We spend the night in the historic port if Wolwevershaven, taking a town walk before dinner. It includes a very typical European square.
And some amazing backstreets.

Leading to a huge gothic church.
And so off to another three course dinner which we have very much earned.  Wifi still spasmodic so we'll be in touch when we can. Xx
